Within Kaiwi State Scenic Shoreline on Oahu’s Windward Coast, the Makapu’u Point Lighthouse Trail is a popular hike ending at the historical red-roofed Makapu’u Lighthouse, built in 1909. Though the lighthouse is not open to the public, the moderately challenging hike attracts travelers and locals alike for its stunning coastal views.

Don't make the mistake of booking the shuttle if you plan to drive, park and hike up on your own. A planning error due to not understanding that the shuttle was for folks who needed a ride from a resort cost me $155.
The hike at Diamond Head was a little more than we expected, but in the end it was well worth it. The Makapu lighthouse hike was also well worth it too. The views were incredible at both hikes. Would definitely recommend to any body, just beware to have good hiking shoes and water.
Both hikes are a must do. The Diamond Head is a more difficult hike but worth it. Bring a good pair of shoes and a good camera for both. The shuttle was on time and the drivers where great especially Cousin Mark.
It was an easy pickup and drop-offs. Diamond Head and the Makapuu LIghthouse were VERY scenic. Be prepared for some uphill walking. Wear sunscreen. Water is supplied, but it couldn't hurt to bring some.
The view is simply amazing. At first was a little nervous because it was so dark. Our driver provided us with flashlights and it was well worth the experience. We had an amazing driver and told us a lot about our sites and took pictures also of us. Loved this experience
We did the makapuu lighthouse trail. The trail was beautiful with all the different views. Well worth getting up early for. The driver/tour guide was amazing stopping off on the way back to the blow holes and the lava beach. He was great
