How to get there

From Ponta Delgada, Ribeira dos Caldeirões Natural Park is a 1-hour drive via the scenic EN1-1A road, some of which runs alongside the coast of São Miguel. Though some public transport services the area, it involves multiple changes so tours that include round-trip transfers are most convenient.

When to get there

To maximize the chance of blue skies and pleasant conditions for hiking, visit the Azores between May and October. Due to the European school holidays, the island is busiest throughout July and August.
