Handicrafts up close

The weaving mills of Mumcular are famous in Europe. Here, handmade carpets made in the area are transported to Milas, Bodrum, and Istanbul for export. To visit these mills is to see a slice of unfiltered, rural Turkish life—one that also helps support local farmers involved in olive cultivation, sheep rearing, and vegetable growing in one of the Aegean's fertile plains.
