Queens’ College’s opening hours and days vary depending on the season. Between early January through February, and late October through December, it is open Monday to Friday only, while the rest of the year, it is open daily. This unusual timber-beamed bridge, which dates back to 1749, is the subject of much misinformation and myth-making. According to legend, it was the brainchild of Sir Isaac Newton, who designed it in such a way that it would hold together without the need for any nails, screws, or bolts. In reality, the bridge was not built until 22 years after Newton’s death, and various bolts and nails are used in the structure.
