2100 Collins Avenue, Miami Beach, Florida

The basics

Considered Miami Beach’s banner contemporary art museum, the Bass Museum of Art has welcomed diverse audiences for decades. Housed in an art deco 1930s library that was later modernized by architect Arata Isozaki, the museum showcases the work of international contemporary artists across many media, extending to fashion, architecture, and design. The adjoining Creativity Center is a destination for shopping, dining, and education, while Collins Park, the site of Ugo Rondinone’s colorful Miami Mountain sculpture, is a palm-lined, public green space that leads to the museum entry.

The Bass is easy to explore as part of a cultural day out in Miami Beach, thanks in part to its flexible visiting policy: Tickets can be booked online in advance, but walk-ins are welcome. The museum is also a sightseeing stop on a number of Miami Beach tours.
