Dibba

The basics

One of the highlights of the region are the fjords of Dibba. Unlike the Scandinavian version, Dibba’s fjords have practically no signs of vegetation in its mountainous setting. Amid the bright blue waters of the gulf, exploring the fjords on a traditional dhow boat makes for an otherworldly experience. You can also visit the mighty, sand-hued Dibba Castle to delve into the area’s history, or head to the beaches for swimming and snorkeling.

  • Make sure to respect social customs and dress appropriately.
  • If you plan on checking out the fjords, bring water, food, and your camera.
  • For deep-sea diving, visit the gulf town of Khasab.

How to get there

Dibba (also known as Daba) is an exclave of Oman that’s completely surrounded by the UAE. While flying into Oman’s capital of Muscat is possible, it’s a long, arduous journey to Dibba, and flights to the region are infrequent. Instead, consider accessing Dibba from Abu Dhabi or Dubai.
