The basics

Explore the Museum of Fine Arts independently on your own time. Alternatively, check out the highlights of its collection on a tour with an expert guide who’ll provide background and context on the works. Some tours combine a guided museum visit with a more relaxed activity such as a tapas lunch, or focus heavily on a particular exhibition.

You can also combine a visit with a hop-on hop-off bus tour around Seville’s top sights—the main route has two bus stops close to the museum. If you’re not staying in Seville, some day trips from cities such as Granada include a brief visit to the museum as part of their itineraries.

When to get there

The Museum of Fine Arts is open year-round, from morning to mid-evening, although its hours in August differ during the rest of the year. Don’t-Miss Pieces at the Fine Arts Museum

There are numerous don’t-miss treasures on display at the museum, including works by the Seville-born painter, Bartolomé Murillo, such as his Immaculate Conception and Virgin with the Child. In-between admiring the paintings and sculptures, cast your eyes over the stunning architecture—in places, it almost overshadows the art. Highlights include the main cloisters, an elaborately carved baroque porch, and a magnificent domed ceiling painted in the 18th century by Domingo Martinez.
