Cogges

Cogges Manor Farm, Church Lane, Cogges, South East England, United Kingdom

The basics

While no longer operating as an independent village—it is now considered part of the nearby town of Witney—Cogges still ranks among the Cotswolds’ major tourist destinations. Listed in the Domesday book, its heritage landmarks include Cogges Manor Farm (which features a 13th-century manor home, and is now a working farm and local heritage center), St. Mary’s Church, and the ruins of other medieval structures. Cogges has earned additional acclaim in recent years, thanks to its appearance on the popular television show Downton Abbey.

Cogges is included in Downton Abbey-themed tours, and often paired with visits to Highclere Castle (which is used as the location for Downton Abbey in the series).

Downton Abbey

Cogges Manor Farm was used as the filming location for Yew Tree Farm (home to Mr. Drewe and his family) in the fourth, fifth, and sixth seasons of Downton Abbey. During your visit, look out for familiar corners that would have been immortalized on the small screen.
