The Basics
There are several ways to experience Casa Cenote—sometimes known as Cenote Manatí—but most travelers find it easiest to arrive as part of an organized excursion. Combine a stop at the cenote with a sightseeing tour of Tulum; visit several cenotes in one day, including the Cenote Angelita; take a paddleboarding class in both the cenote and ocean; try your hand at scuba diving in the crystalline waters of Casa Cenote; or simply enjoy time to snorkel during a private trip. Most tours include convenient round-trip transportation.
Things to Know Before You Go
You can’t wear sunscreen (biodegradable or otherwise) at Casa Cenote so pack lots of light layers to protect yourself from the sun.
Snorkels, lockers, life jackets, paddleboards, and kayaks are available for rent.
There's a small corner store within walking distance of Casa Cenote and a nearby restaurant, but you can also bring your own snacks; take all your trash away with you.
Casa Cenote is not accessible for strollers or wheelchair users.
How to Get There
Casa Cenote is situated 6.8 miles (11 kilometers) north of Tulum and 37 miles (60 kilometers) south of Playa del Carmen, just off the Tulum-Puerto Juárez Highway. While it can be accessed independently, it’s easiest to visit with a private vehicle or as part of a guided tour that includes round-trip transportation.

When to Get There
Casa Cenote is open year-round from the mid-morning to late afternoon and offers refreshing relief from the humidity of the Caribbean coastline. For the most relaxing experience, arrive early to avoid the largest crowds, visit midweek, or stop by during the Mexican Caribbean’s May to November down season.
Cenotes Near Tulum
If you’re looking to swap the salty ocean for a cool freshwater sinkhole, there are plenty of cenotes to choose from near Tulum. Cenote Dos Ojos and the Gran Cenote may be among the most beautiful, but they have crowds to match their stellar reputation. For a slightly more off-the-beaten-path cenote experience, stop by Cenote Zazil Ha or Cenote Xunaan-Ha instead.
