Ventura Pier and Promenade are conveniently located about a 10-minute walk from the Ventura Amtrak train station. If you're driving, you can park in one of the town's free parking structures. The pier itself is only accessible on foot. With plenty of bike rental places, you can also enjoy bike rides along the surrounding promenade.
When to get there
On the weekend, Ventura Pier and Promenade tends to see large family crowds, so prepare for busy beaches and potentially long waits at nearby restaurants. If you can, visit this spot on a warm weekday before 5pm so as to avoid the after-work crowds. Summer is the best season to visit, especially if the beach is your main objective.
Downtown Ventura nightlife
If you’re looking for some nightlife to complement your day trip, the many pubs and breweries located in downtown Ventura are a great place to start. Downtown also has lively spots for karaoke, live music, and line dancing. Or, you can also enjoy the live music offered to visitors along the downtown strip on Friday nights in summer.
