Abu Dhabi’s air-conditioned malls, hotels, and restaurants are a welcome escape from the heat.
If you only have time for one thing, make it Yas Island.
On day one, get some relief from the heat with a trip to Yas Water World, one of the best-rated water parks in the world, according to the New York Times. Yas has rides and slides for all age groups, and on-site lunch is included, so you don't have to worry about how to feed the kids.
Next, make your way to The National Aquarium Abu Dhabi, the largest aquarium in the Middle East. Here you can learn about the aquatic life of the Persian Gulf (and beyond), and there’s a playground if kids get restless.
Day two is for theme parks, and there are two main ones to choose from. If you’re feeling ambitious you could attempt both, as they’re conveniently adjacent to each other on Yas Island. At Warner Bros. World Abu Dhabi, superhero and comic book character–themed rides come to life, each with their own lands.
Meanwhile at Ferrari World, the largest indoor theme park, the Formula Rossa is a key attraction and the fastest rollercoaster in the world. Among the race simulators and mini Ferrari rides, there are ample gift shops, cafés and restaurants where you can refresh, relax, and unwind.
On day three, take a private kayak adventure through the mangroves of Abu Dhabi. Learn about the birds, fish, foxes, and flamingoes that call the area home, and enjoy sea swimming. Some cruises include a barbecue meal on the island before you leave.
