Wie man 3 Tage in Luzern verbringt

Organisiert von Margot Biggwhose love for Lucerne’s beauty has kept her coming back.

When I was growing up, my grandmother had a small wooden figure of the Lion of Lucerne, a rock-hewn statue of a speared lion. Even as a small child, I found the image tragically moving and hoped that one day I would see this piece of art with my own eyes. I got the chance to see the statue on my first trip to Lucerne. While it was this famed monument that drew me to the city, it’s Lucerne’s charming old neighborhoods and natural beauty that has made me want to keep coming back. Want to see the best of Lucerne for yourself? Here’s how I suggest doing it.

Bring a good jacket—summer nights can be cool, while winters are downright chilly.

If you only have time for one thing, make it the Lion of Lucerne statue.

Day 1

On your first morning in Lucerne, get your bearings by strolling through the Old Town, past the famous medieval Chapel Bridge, and onwards to the Lion of Lucerne statue, which honors the Swiss Guards who lost their lives in the French Revolution.

Devote your afternoon to exploring Lucerne's cultural heritage by joining a small-group tour that combines a guided visit to Lucerne Castle with cheese and chocolate tastings.

Day 2

On your second morning, head to Kriens, a 10-minute taxi or 15-minute bus ride from Lucerne, to visit Mt. Pilatus, accessible from Kriens via gondola and aerial cableway. You can see fantastic views of the lake and its surroundings from the summit, which is around 7,000 feet (2,132 meters) above sea level.

Head back to Lucerne in the afternoon and get a different view of Lake Lucerne—from aboard a sightseeing cruise.

Day 3

Start your last day with a visit to the Swiss Museum of Transport. Here, you'll learn the history of planes, trains, and automobiles and have the opportunity to try out airplane and helicopter flight simulators.

Then bundle up and head up to nearby Mt. Titlis, where—weather permitting—you can go snow tubing, ride a gondola, and walk along Europe's highest suspension bridge. Join a tour, and you’ll have all admission fees and transportation taken care of, along with the added value of a guide to tell you all about the mountain.
