A magical experience in the desert

I had a wonderful time with a lovely group of people in this 2-day desert experience. In fact, this was one of the highlights of my trip to Egypt and one of my big wishes coming true. The night sky was magnificent!!! Badr, our driver and carer while in the desert was a great guide and did his utmost to keep us happy, safe, and made us feel special and well taken care of. A big thank you and to those of you who are considering this experience, don't hesitate. The only regret you'll have is for the experience to last longer :)

Where do I begin? This tour was the highlight of my trip to Egypt. The drive to get there is long (the only downside) take that time to rest, I promise you will need it. When you arrive at the hotel, they feed you lunch and go over everything that’s about to happen. After lunch you need your tour guide. My guide was Mamoosh (I’m sure I spelled that wrong) do yourself a favor and request him! HE MADE THE TOUR SO GREAT! He knows it all, very personable, so friendly, and caring. While you are out in the desert, his concern is you! We had a small group of 4, and that was perfect! I wish we would’ve stayed for a couple of nights. The meals are plentiful and delicious. I could type for hours about my experience, please do yourself a favor and book this! Sleeping under the stars was amazing, I slept like a rock in that tent. It’s so peaceful and beautiful. I’m definitely recommending this experience to anyone who is coming to Egypt!

Rough but cool! They divided a big group by vehicles @ 5 per vehicle. I thought we were going to convoy but vehicles were independent and camped independently… No toilet facility but the one provided by Desert Mother Nature. No showers for that night, so wet wipes recommended. The guide brings the food for the passengers in his vehicle and actually impressed me with his cooking skills… Organizer in main camp can be a little pushy trying to maintain the schedule. Don’t let them ruin the experience… Life in Egypt as a tourist is Go, Go, Go.

Amazing experience! It’s definitely a must-do activity when you visit Cairo. Amir had the whole trip organised perfectly and was very helpful. Our guide Mahmoud was great, he took great care of us, cooked dinner and breakfast and went above and beyond to make sure we had an incredible time! Highly recommend it.

Magical, mystical, spiritual, and transcendental. After seeing this place, no words can adequately describe the beauty and the feelings you'll experience. Yes, the White Desert is unearthly, but it is very much of this planet. It's a bit of a drive to get there, but the driver will make good time, and will stop for a needed break. Our driver/guide/cook - all one and the same - into the Black and White Deserts, is an experienced professional. Just kick back and you'll be rewarded by this once-in-a-lifetime experience. Be mindful to pack warm clothes; consider the time of year you go and that you'll overnight in a small tent.

The white desert tour was the highlight of our trip (trip date: 25th-26th Dec 22). Photos or videos will not do justice to the beauty we were privileged to peruse ! However, do not book through Viator because they significantly over charge for the tour. Reach out to the tour operator, White Desert Travel and book a deal with them. It's highly recommended for anyone travelling to Egypt and looking for adventure. Please ask for Badr as your tour guide- he'll make the experience an unforgettable one :) Not only was Badr a genie - who cooked, cleaned and served like family but professional to the core. He refused to take a higher tip ! Just as a FYI this is not a private tour- so you'll be camping in the white desert with another group- which turned out even better for us. But it really depends on who you're paired with.

We had a fantastic visit to the White Desert, Crystal Mountain, Agabat Valley, and Black Desert with Amir and his team. Our guide was Badr, it was so much fun to learn about the oasis area with him. Camping under the stars was a highlight, including an amazing dinner, tea, and shisha. Highly recommend to other travelers wanting to experience something unique and away from the crowds.

Everything was perfect! The landscapes, the food, the night under the stars. Totally worth it! FYi the entrance fee for the natural reserve was 110 LE pp and 2 drivers have to be tipped

A must do experience while in Egypt

Incredibly beautiful tour with a variety of different landscapes. We were taken care of during the entire experience. The lunch and dinner was great but breakfast could have been better and lunch should have been provided the second day as it takes until 5PM to arrive back in Cairo. We felt warm and comfortable sleeping under the stars. Overall a once in a lifetime experience

+ Great tour to the unique deserts in Egypt. One of the best trips during our travel across Egypt. I would totaly recommend to other travelers who seeks adventures and unique experiences. - Hidden costs are the negative side of the story. Upon arrival we have to pay 110 LE for 'entrance fee' directly to the company owner, although there was no entrance/checkpoint to the desert. After the trip the owner directly required from us to tip the driver. We didn't tip imediately, so he 'reminded' us three times to tip the driver. He was very pushy and tipping is not 'optional' at all.
Great experience to get away from the city

Spending a night sleeping under the stars in the desert is a really special experience. I had a great time seeing the different parts of the desert (black mountains, white desert, crystal rock, etc.) as well as the camping overnight. The camp was very comfortable, with the driver making a very nice dinner. There was the option to sleep in the tent or sleep outside, I opted to sleep outside. Just remember to bring bug spray. Also - if possible, try to do 2 days of camping - it will feel like you're spending less time in the car. It's about a 4-5 hour comfortable drive from Cairo, plus another 4 hours to get to the desert - so it's quite a lot of car time, but it is worth it. This operator does the transfers by private car (not a bus, like others for the same price). This is far superior, as the car fits 5 people and is more comfortable. Our driver was very good, fun, and made sure everyone had a good time.
