Grausam.
Overpriced experience for a mediocre tour - RECONSIDER
Mark_V, Dez. 2022
Hari, my driver, met me at my hotel at 3am to start out 4hr journey to Agra. Be prepared to have your experience be delayed due to weather changes like fog. You’ll drive though mainly industrial and countryside views. Once we arrived at Agra, we met Mohammad our tour guide for the day who cautioned about pickpockets around the area. From there, we proceeded to enter the Taj Mahal and it’s beautiful surrounds. Mohammad offered adequate information about the Taj Mahal, but l I would suggest he looks into providing more information for future tour guests. He also seemed indifferent about taking photos. In fact, he was more than happy to hand me off to a local photographer to help capture the most cinematic portraits for around RS3200. I highly recommend this, especially if you’re traveling alone or has an equally as disinterested guide as I did. We then proceeded to see the process of handwoven rugs, his brother’s pashmina scarves and a gemologist specializing in silverwares. While I appreciate the artisanal craftsmanship of these centuries-old traditions, it reverberated the same message of “no pressure to buy, but I strongly insist you do” despite multiple attempts to decline. We then continued on to the Agra Fort and Mohammad’s disinterest continued on. In fact, he rushed me in and out of sections of the fort that I would’ve loved to hear more detail about. At one stage, he asked me to take photos of him during the tour! What was worse was when he palmed me off again to another tour guide and gave me the option to see one of the remaining three sites that were listed in the advertised itinerary; either the Chand Baori stepwell, the Fatehpur Sikri and the Itmad-Ad-Daula was not even mentioned. I was happy to have met Nazim who took me through the Fatehpur Sikri in great detail, even taking some of the most incredible photos on the best vantage points in the fort. I’d be happy to pay for Nazim’s services than that but of Mohammad’s. I insisted to see the Chand Baori and Hari stepped on the pedal so we could see it, even with 2 mins to spare to capture sunset photos of this 8th century step well. Hari then dropped me off safely at my hotel at 8pm. I would strongly suggest you reconsider the overpriced cost of this tour. Be prepared for the hidden additional costs and be confronted by the vehement pressure to purchase wares you may be moderately interested in. Best thing was the sunrise on the Taj Mahal. Worst was the disinterested tour guide, being palmed off multiple times to other vendors, tour guides P.S. give Hari and Nazim most of the cost of the trip and please give feedback to Mohammad.

Dear Mark, Thank you for the review and we appreciate that you liked our Driver & Guide at Fatehpur Sikri !! As Far as Guide in Agra is concerned, he showed you both Taj Mahal and Agra Fort as mentioned in the Itinerary and it is clearly mentioned in the itinerary that we will be paying entry for Any 2 monuments apart from Taj Mahal and that's why the Guide gave you the options to choose from but possibly you have not noticed the Booking voucher which clearly mentions inclusions and exclusions and other details.Still to give you the best experience we took you to Abhaneri Step Well's but our hard luck that even after covering all the destinations you were not happy. Also if the Guide would have been disinterested than he would have shown you the Taj Mahal also in rush but you mentioned that you had a great time at Taj Mahal. Secondly 80% of the Agra Fort is occupied by the Indian Army and some portion is available for the public and whatever he could show you he did and if you have the intentions to stay longer you should have informed either him or the operator as you were connected on What's App. Please understand the Guide gives the information and if the guest wishes to know more they ask the questions to the Guide and they give their best. PS: Kindly go through the Booking Voucher again and check the inclusions and exclusions before starting the Trip. We still feel sorry that you had a disappointment on the Tour. Have a great day !!
Must see

Great to visit Taj Mahal the driver from Jaipur was fantastic. The guide was picked up in Agra .not the best guide in the world. Stuffy no interest talked about tips all the time took us out of the Taj Mahal through the slums of India. Not a good experience for such a great place.
Excellent service

Disappointed not to see Fatehpur Sikri
Corinne_S, Jan. 2019
The good points - a great and really friendly driver who took me for the best chai in Jaipur as we started out on the journey. The guide was very knowledgeable and I learnt a lot about the Taj Mahal, Baby Taj and the Agra fort. Bad points - do not expect to see the Fatehpur Sikri, the guide was much more interested in taking me to see the workshops for carpets and inlay marble, which were interesting, but if I had known that this meant I would not see all the sights I had paid for, then I would have told him not to take me there. The guide obviously gets a commission from these shops so ended up feeling really cheated. I chose Viator as I have used them many times in different parts of the world. This is the first time I have not received the tour as advertised. This tour was really expensive in comparison to other tours and I selected it based on the company's reputation. I would not choose it again. I would take a private driver and then find a guide at the sites you want to see - you are much more in control then and it will cost you about half the price. Very disappointed Viator!
Excellent Agra tour, from Jaipur
Helen_M, Dez. 2018
This was an excellent way to see the Taj Mahal and Agra Fort in comfort. I was picked up at my hotel at 6am and the journey was smooth, with an excellent driver, Hari, and comfort stop. In Agra we picked up the tour guide, PK, who was also excellent, knowledgeable and a great photographer too! The restaurant i was taken to for lunch was very good. I was back in Jaipur by about 7pm. Tired but happy. I would highly recommend this tour and especially Hari Singh from Jaipur and PK, the tour guide from Agra.

I would give this excursion a 1 and that's a stretch! I'm actually surprised by the 5 reviews, now I've been through this myself, but maybe we were unlucky. Let's start with the positive - the driver turned up on time and was efficient. For everything else. This tour was hugely overpriced, you could organize this yourself in India for less than a quarter of the price and I would highly recommend doing this. It will probably be more enjoyable as well. On the sights themselves. The Taj was obviously fantastic, but you don't need a guide. Although ours was entertaining and took some great photos you can read about the history in advance and there isn't much to point out, except the Taj itself and we were reminded by our tour guide within 5 minutes of meeting him, that he would be wanting a tip. Not exactly a great first impression! At the end of the tour of the Taj, he tried to put us off seeing anything else in Agra, I'm assuming so he could sneak off early and again pressured for a tip, claiming he hadn't been paid by Viator for 6 months, repeating myself, this isn't exactly what you want to hear, when you've paid out some serious money for this tour. Don't get me wrong, although I've been negative so far, we were always intending to give this guy a tip, but just be prepared for this for this kind of chat. Despite our tour guides less than enthusiastic nature, we were eager to see the Fatehpur Sikri and cards on the table, I'm not even sure if the 'new' guide realized he worked for Viator, I was actually unsure about following him. Saying this, he shared alot of information about the site and it's worth a visit, if you haven't seen many other forts/palaces. We took the bus he recommended to get to the gate, which was a bargain 10 rupees and actually chose to walk back! The sun was shining and it was good to feel the buzz of the town, I would highly recommended doing this! All in all - really not worth the money!

The driver was wonderful, and drove us in his modern Volkswagen to Agra brilliantly. No worries there. The 'hustorian' guide, however, was not what we expected. He seemed disinterested both in us and in the Taj Mahal, in his dark glasses and bomber jacket. He rushed us round the Taj Mahal stunning, it must be admitted, before bundling us back into the car and taking us to a carpet seller's where he expected us rich tourists to buy merchandise on which he would make a commission. Having failed there, he took us to a very touristy and expensive restaurant, presumably in further search of commission. After lunch, he decided that there was too much traffic to see anything else, so we drove past Agra Fort, dropped this man off somewhere, and drove home. Altoghether a disappointment. I can understand the desire for endless commission if this was a cheap tour, but it wasn't - it was through a reputable, and not inexpensive tour company who promised lots and, in the end, delivered little. I hope that this helps people in the future. I hope that the company is listening.

By far our favourite, again we were required to go to a carpet maker with hard selling to buy 5000 USD carpets, Dinner with the Family was the highlight. A true please and memories for a lifetime

Graham D, Aug. 2017
Only 1hr at the Taj Mahal - not 2. Only 30mins at Agra Fort - not 1hr. Didn't get to visit anything else on the tour with the exception of a carpet shop which was unrelated and a precious stone shop - only for the hard sell. Was home for 5pm - not the stated 8pm. Very rushed. Do it yourself instead.

Carly T, Juli 2017
Driver service was fine...tour guide didn't provide a lot of info at the sight, tried to make me write a TripAdvisor review of him while we were in the Agra fort so beware of overly positive trip advisor reviews, tried to convince me not to go to Agra fort so he didn't have to spend more time showing me around we can just take a picture outside if you want which I would've hated to miss, and took me to 3 different tourist trap places where it's literally just a store and there is high pressure to buy something, even after I asked not to be taken to the 3rd after going to the first 2. Clearly he makes a commission off of sales at these places, and even asked me how much I spent at one of them. I know this is something tour guides do in India, but didn't expect it of a tour I paid 150 for. Also tried to refer me to a specific photographer to pay for photos inside the Taj Mahal. In the guide's defense, when I said I didn't want to buy photos, he was happy to take plenty of me on my phone. It was still a fun day, but I was overall a bit disappointed. The sites are amazing though, and you should definitely see them.

I was time poor and in Jaipur and desperately wanted to see the Taj Mahal. I was traveling by myself and the driver was so sweet and l felt so safe sleeping most of the way. I was very impressed with his driving skills through heavy traffic and some badly maintain roads. The rest stop used on the trip there and back serves good food and is clean albeit tourist prices but there is nothing else around so you have no other option. We met a lovely tour guide in Agra, he was so knowledgeable and passionate of the area and the Taj Mahal. He definitely enhanced my experience. I would definitely give 5 stars to this tour, I only wish I had longer to explore this amazing city.

The driver provided did not speak or understand a word of English. The guide at the Taj Mahal was excellent. Having to travel with someone for 11 hours in a car who cannot answer a question is unacceptable.
