Hi Sherri,
At Yorkshire Appetite, we appreciate all the reviews since they help us a lot to improve.
First of all, we are very sorry for not having met your expectations. Paul is a much loved guide of the tours and has a wealth of knowledge about the town and its food scene as well as being an experienced cook and food and wine expert. Our experience is a culinary and cultural adventure so we include both food and local history to understand the town of Harrogate as well as its food. Talking and eating is essentially what a food tour is about and we usually offer a balance of history and food and this balance is enjoyed by 99% of our customers. . I apologise if on this occasion the emphasis was more on the history.
As regards the timing. The tour is advertised at 3 hours long, not two hours. If our guides are made aware of the need for time to be of the essence, then they will go out of their way to ensure we are finished on time.
As regards the cakes and cookies being commercially; Some are made by the chef of the deli themselves and the others are made by a local artisan bakery producing tray bakes. We take pride in supporting local independents and so take great care over the choice of food we offer.
Alex, from Vanillis Gelato, is indeed a highlight of our tour, along with his ice cream and we are happy you enjoyed most of the food. We are just sorry that you were not happy with the commentary on this occasion.
Best Wishes
Kay and the team at Yorkshire Appetite.
