Summary: Great experience and highly recommended, but either (a) clarify expectations with vendor upfront via written email, (b) pick another company, or (c) purchase the private tour. PROS: * Professional company, seemed competent and safe * Reasonable price compared to some other offers explored CONS: * Very crowded balloon ride, we had 14 people in our balloon. The woman next to me took the best position, so I was left with a partial visibility for the ride. * Ride was at 9am, but we were told it was a "sunrise balloon ride" so that was a big disappointment (be sure to follow-up with the operator to confirm this in writing before you show up) * We were picked up before Sunrise at 6:30 am (sunrise was 7:30 am), but ended up sitting in the tent for over an hour * Ride was 50 minutes long, so shorter than the 1-hour quoted by the operator *

As someone who is terrified of heights this was one of the things in a moment of madness I booked. From the wonderful driver who picked us up to Pierre the balloon pilot everyone was wonderful. Friendly, professional, informative and amusing. This was the most fabulous experience. It’s peaceful gliding across the sky. Very safe and amazing experience. Just wish I could have stayed floating around for longer. Berber breakfast was good and the company was great from start to finish.

This is a unique experience, not like an airplane at all, it feels more like riding on a drone. We passed over villages, animals, and watched the sun rise through the mountains. Our pilot was very professional with many years experience, he took us as high as a balloon can go and as low as a balloon can go. I highly recommend this experience if you are able to afford it. There is a videographer who will compile video footage of you from different perspectives for 30 euros if you want.

Many thanks ! Yes, the experience is starting with a drive in one of our nice 4x4 cars (Toyota Land Cruisers, Toyota HDJ 200 V8, Ford VAN USA, Dusters, Jeeps). The the most extraordinary part is of course the 1 hour balloon ride up to 3000 Feet high, with stunning view on Atlas (up to visibility of the day), to Marrakech, Jbilets mountains desert and Tensift river Valley. My fiance and I had a great experience. We were a little worried about the early wake up call but it was well worth it! The hotel transportation was waiting for us before their scheduled pickup time. The flight was calm and felt safe every moment. Super friendly pilot (Alex), photographer and staff. And for the record, the landing was very smooth! Nothing to be worried about. It was a all around great experience. I highly recommend it.

The balloon ride was lovely, but the breakfast felt a little rushed and because we were in the "second" set of rides for that morning (which was not communicated previously), we missed the actual sunrise by a fair amount of time. After the ride, we were driven straight back to our meeting point.

Thanks for sharing your experience ! Yes, we have 2nd flight and 3rd flights somme days. Sunrise is never a promise ... even for 1st morning flight, we may experience de delay for the take off waiting for suitable weather conditions. Rare, but possible. For 2nd flight passengers, it is always confirmed ''2nd morning flight after sunrise''. Please check your messages from Ciel d'Afrique, it is always communicated previous to the flight. For 2nd flight, if conditions are normal, passengers arriving at the camp are having breakfast until moment pursuit cars of the balloons are starting to follow them and be there with passengers at moment of landing, in front of you. Easy to take picture at this moment as it is nice daylight (not during the take off on 1st flight when it is still dark). Then we refuel, change passengers and take off for a second flight. All photo shooting and cinema teams only take 2nd flight for light they need for their professional job. Hope this details help to understand future balloon enthusiasts !

A memorable sunrise

It was a great experience and very well organized. All went very smoothly, communication, pick up from the hotel, breakfast at the camp in a berbere tent. A special mention to our driver Daniel, a very calm, nice and noticeably experienced pilot that left us very confortable on our first ballon flight and made this trip memorable.

Thank you to Daniel and team for what was truly one of the highlights of my life, not just my trip to Morocco. Wonderful early pick up, with about a 40 minute drive out to the site. Welcoming coffee/tea for the early morning and an incredibly sleekly run operation to make sure we all go off in our balloons on time. No matter how many times in your life you see an African sunrise, to see it over mountains, 1km above the earth..... truly flawed me and brought tears to my eyes. An extraordinarily calming experience is ballooning over rural Morocco whilst watching other balloons go up in the distance.... and you’ll experience a landing like no other..... wonderfully smooth and an all around brilliant morning (the Berber breakfast was also excellent!) Don’t hesitate in booking this with Ciel De Afrique, it’s an experience you will never forget and are unlikely to regret.♥️

I would definitely recommend anyone who visits Marrakech to try the Hot Air Balloon Ride and use viator to book this particular Adventure run by Ciel d'Afrique. Ciel d'Afrique are the best for Hot Air Balloon Ride and the company itself is on the field for 29 years. I wouldn't recommend any other company because they are either scary or risky. Use Viator to book for Ciel d'Afrique Balloon Ride. The breakfast even though was cold it was filling. The pilots and other staffs are well behaved and trained well. The pick up driver was on time and helped us in many ways answering all our questions and he made our travel to the spot was safe. Overall I would definitely recommend the Ciel D'Afrique Hot Air Balloon Ride. Don't miss it.

A fantastic trip, I loved it! Our first attempt didn't happen as there was bad weather i could see the lightning! but they gave us breakfast and blankets to sit in the huts while they decided if it was safe to go or not. I wasn't at all annoyed that we didn't get to go that day as safety is paramount. I was offered the next morning and went then instead. This is a well organised trip and definitely worth it. The views are breathtaking. Our pilot was brilliant. The landing was a light touch on the ground and that was it. No bumpy landing, nothing to be scared of at all. If you've never been in a hot air balloon then definitely go. This was my first time and I'm so glad I did it.

Highlights the views, simply stunning! The impressive Mountains, rural farm land and local village houses could all be seen on our sunrise balloon experience! location perfect, low wind and clear blue Moroccan skies very very professional set up, made you feel very safe and assured flying insight into local life, tent breakfast with mint tea, pancakes, hard boiled eggs and fruit door to door pick up drop off language wasnt an issue, perfect English spoken great communication to arrange pick up time I was picked up at 6am and made it back just after 9, no problem for a second breakfast at my hotel!

Disappointing as there was barely anything to see from up in the balloon. We were in the middle of nowhere and there was nothing to see. The breakfast afterwards was also disappointing and cold. Not worth the price at all.

Magical trip - just do it! The gang of lads organising the flight were great fun, and the breakfast in a fantastic Berber desert tent was lovely. Our guide Abdullah was a diamond, funny, interesting, informative, and a little bit crazy as he said himself! To see the Atlas Mountains from the balloon was a truly special experience. B
