    Great excursion

    Halfway to Hana is a great excursion and a great way to see parts of the island without spending all day in the car. Sean was a great tour guide and He navigated the narrow roads like a pro while providing valuable information about the history of the area. We were able to see black sand beaches, sea turtles and waterfalls.

    A good day on the road to Hana

    We booked this private tour on a cruise. Had Summer as our guide and she was great! We were a party of 4 , 2 seniors and one of them uses a walker. She was very polite, accommodating, and kind. Let us move at our own pace and she is a skilled driver on the road to Hana. Only reason for 4 and not 5 stars is the vehicles used for this tour are very old and have visible wear and tear. Ours was missing parts and the door trim kept falling off. Seats are a bit uncomfortable as to be expected with the age of the car. We had a Lincoln town car but we saw her partner who had a Lincoln Navigator both are old. For the price, it would be nice to have newer vehicles. I would recommend this tour but set your expectations accordingly on the transportation.

    Hi, Thank you for the great review. The Lincoln Towncar is now a personal car, replaced with another Lincoln Navigator. Now more room, and comfort for up to 7. Hope you come back to Maui for another chance to see Paradise. Mahalos

    Beautiful waterfalls, beaches not swimmable but picturesque including a few surfers. Turtles were special. Half day is probably enough to get a good feel of the area.

    The scenery is spectacular. Our driver and guide Summer is lovely, kind, and knowledgeable and a very skilled driver. Felt comfortable and safe during the whole trip. The car is not new and no room for more than four people. Don’t expect luxury transportation but more than adequate. Trip provided a nice variety of scenery, little walks to stretch your legs and no stress of driving on narrow very curves roads. Summer made the trip as she cares about people and of providing them with a safe and memorable day. I wholly recommend this trip

Our driver's summer works hard I'm making sure that you have the best time while visiting Maui. In Our Lincoln Town car (L) does fit only four persons and a middle seat in the backseat. Will work to remedy any seating capacity in the future by including our Lincoln navigators in most of our tours. I hope you visit Maui one day and spend a week so that you can see the rest of Maui.     Sean the owner made this tour worthwhile. The ride in the Lincoln was very Comfortable. The sites were outstanding. I highly recommend this company.

    We walked to Long Drugs which was down the marked walkway from the ship. Sean was right on the corner with a sign before the required meeting time. He was friendly and personable and told us where to wait. The trip itself was in a Lincoln Navigator. Extremely comfortable. Sean was awesome! He was very knowledgeable and narrated the trip in detail and knew a lot of history. The stops along the way were perfect and very well planned. He was flexible and was all about making the experience the best for his passengers. We stopped for lunch at the Halfway Point to Hana which was perfect. Between the black sand beach, the waterfall, Jurassic Park, the Arboretum and the turtles, these were the highlights of the trip. He provided water & juices and truly made us feel like family. We traveled simultaneously with the other Coastline Tour Guide, Summer and benefitted from both of their knowledge on all the stops. I highly recommend this trip. It was very personalized. You will not be disappointed!

It's hard to predict when the other vehicle stops but we got lucky this time. I hope you come to Maui one day and see more as you found that just one or two days is not enough.     Our trip to Halfway to Hana was amazing! We saw the black sand beach, the green turtles, surfers at the beach, a triple waterfall, beautiful flowers and huge eucalyptus trees. Summer was very informative and we really enjoyed the trip!

    Excellent tour with very knowledgeable tour guide. Beautiful beaches and lots of lush plants. Turtles and surfers on the beach was an ultimate experience. Food at a local restaurant on the way, was very good!

    Bad Pickup Experience, but Summer, our tour guide, is Great.

    I wanted to give a five star rating, but I can't because of not very pleasant experience with pickup. First of all, Sean (a greeter, tour guide, and driver) was supposed to stand at Maui Village Mail holding a sign, (Coastline Tours). As soon as we got to the corner of the Maui Village Mail sign, we were immediately swarmed by a group of people, who asked us if we needed a taxi or signed up for tours. Sean was in the middle of these people with a tiny 8.5x11 inch sized paper. There was no way that we could recognize him as from Coastline Tours. Once we found him, he directed us to his Lincoln Navigator and told us to wait for other passengers. Twenty minutes later, he met three other couples and told us that we would have to take a different car with a different driver. We were not sure what made him not wanting us in his car anymore after he saw three other couples. I don't want to accuse him anything but could he discriminate against us since we are not white like other couples? Twenty minutes waiting in a hot humid sunny day was bad and then been told that you couldn't come to ride in the car you were waiting for. I don't know which is worse. Please make a larger sign and don't switch car in last minutes. Summer, our tour lady and driver, on the other hand, was great. She was nice and patient, making every stops according to the tour descriptions. We really appreciate that she dropped us very close to the ship so we didn't need to take a long walk back to the ship. Thanks, Summer!

    Hello and thank you for this review. The pickup at this harbor is a bit difficult with a lot of taxis standing around trying to solicit. As of today all solicitation of taxis in the place with you met with us has ended according to the Maui Mall Village management. You saw the last of it. Sorry that it took this long for them to make that decision. Thank you for the compliments of Summer the driver, she tries hard to make sure that you have an excellent tour with all the information that you would ever want about Hawaii and of course Maui. Hopefully one day you come back and visit, and see more of the island as it does take a few days to see just this one Island. From now on persons are not waiting very long to be on their way , and that's a policy that will make you and others happy after meeting point.     We had a fantastic time with Summer as our tour guide and driver for this amazing experience. This was truly a wonderful and educational tour and Summer is extremely knowledgeable regarding the Hawaiian history as well as the flora and fauna of each of the many different areas we stopped at along the way. Highly recommend!

    Driver showed up an hour late. Then told us we were given a wrong time for the tour when I had my ticket in hand from Viator to show him. He then proceeded to wait for people that were scheduled up to two hours after us to fill up his car. Not impressed with the driver Sean or how the trip was planned

    Hello, thank you for the recent review. This is used to improve customer service and all aspects of this tour. The drivers were on time. Our meeting times are 8:00 a.m. and 9:00 a.m. on viator and TripAdvisor. I can see you may have waited from 8:00 a.m. until the leave time. The ship that most people come from, the Pride of America, takes from 8:00 a.m. to 9:15 in the morning to come out and join the group. I'm sorry, but we don't have any control of when people can come out of the ship, that's all up to the ship when they arrive and how they allow people to get off of it. We find that most come out by 8:30 in the morning, of course that's unpredictable. Those that join the group that are not from the ship, wait for the people to get off of the ship. We generally wait till 9:15 and we may wait a little bit longer. Viator or trip Advisor have two different times to book this tour, 8:00 am and the other is at 9:00Am. Each customer chooses when they would like to come out but we still leave at approximately 9:15 to 9:30. Sorry you had to wait for the other passengers. The vehicles we use has four passenger capacity and the second has seven passengers capacity. We group persons up accordingly. The most important part of this tour is how it was conducted after getting in and going to and from halfway to Hana. Of course the timing of when we leave is important so that we can get back on time for the ship to leave since it only gives us until 4:30 and maybe 5:00 to arrive back so that the ship can leave from 5:30 and on. Sorry that you had to wait, I will work on making sure that all times of pickup are only one time instead of those two that are mentioned. We found that two different times allows more flexibility, which I see may add confusion. Anybody who books will see only one time available at 8:30 in the morning. This tour did leave on time. Leave time will be the same at 9:15 to 9:30 but we would rather leave early if everybody comes to the vehicle on time. Thank you for this review and it will help to synchronize and simplify all future reservations. Hope the rest of your vacation went well with all the different islands that you may have visited after seeing Maui and hope to see you again in the future. Mahalos

    Sean was great at telling us about Hawaii and taking us on the Road to Hana. He knew where to go to get the best views and was very accommodating to our group. No complaints from anyone in our group!

    The length of this tour was perfect, we didn’t get too tired and were able to see a lot of cool sites like the black sand beach and some sea turtles. Sean is friendly and a good driver and had a lot of knowledge on various topics. However because we were staying with a relative on the island and not on a ship, we had to rebook our tour to be on a day when there would be other customers coming from the cruise docked in the port.

    Sean was an excellent driver and very knowledgeable about the area and its history. He slso shared some of his non-tour guide interests. The excursion included several stops: waterfalls, beaches, arboretum, turtle beach, and a stop for lunch.

    We had a great tour with Sean. He took us to some beautiful spots. The only downside was many of the restaurants were closed, so lunch was a little disappointing, but everything else was great.

    Wrong side of the island.

    I have no pictures. I wasn't able to go because my Cruise ship docked on the wrong side of the island. I had call them several times before the tour asking questions because it was our first time on Maui and I had no clue where anything was located. I wanted to make sure I would be picked up or be able to get to pick up point. I was reassured that there would be no problem. I called them the day before and had to leave a message. I called them the day of and when I told them where I was, I was told I was on the wrong side of the island to request a refund and he would approve it. Still no refund.

    Hello and sorry for the mistake of the island side, it's hard to know that this island has two of them. We've indicated the port, Kahului, and that we meet at the Maui Mall, kahului. Somehow this reservation still got through. Viator processes their refunds, I approved all for this, we're not the ones who hold the deposit, they do. I'll be reviewing any information that will confuse and make sure that everybody knows that we only pick up in one side of the island and that one place. Sorry for the inconvenience. We have ships that come in at different ports on this island and it's hard for anybody to know the difference. Lahaina is a special port where you have to tender in so it's all weather dependent. Kahului is less weather dependent because the ship just docks. Mahalos for choosing Hawaii as your destination, hope the rest of your trip goes well and all the ports that you'll have fun at. Aloha

    The writeup for the tour said to meet at the "green umbrellas" at the mall across from the ship terminal and text when you arrived. We arrived before 830 am and I texted we were there. And waited. At 915 I called and was told to meet at the crosswalk in front of Long Drugs. What! Why didn't the driver call? Or pick us up where it stated in the writeup? Oh well. The vehicle, a Lincoln Navigator, was very nice. Lots of room, handled bumps well, and had a nice ride. Driver stopped at interesting places with great views. Had a bit of a political bent on some topics that could have been avoided. Didn't elaborate much on the island as expected. Bottom line: The tours that drive all the way to Hana, at 10+ hours, seem way too long. This tour, only going halfway, was just right. We got the gist of the Road to Hana, got lots of pictures, and even saw 25+ green sea turtles at our last stop. Whatever you do, don't do the drive yourself. The driver won't get to see much and it's a chore to drive with the switchbacks and the one way bridges.

    Hi, mahalos for the review. I am eager to hear the most important part of this tour, how you liked it. I promise to improve the pickup procedure. The Kahului harbor is making improvements in the future, our greeters will get closer to the ship for passengers and make it an easier meeting for all tours. The tour is Hawaii based information and from what I see, there's a request for more Maui focused. Agreed, it will be done. Much more fun filled facts will be included.
