    Loved the Black Sand Beach and visit to Hana Farms!! Kawika was the best tour guide we’ve had hands down!! Don’t forget to try the banana bread!!!

    A beautiful trip through Maui rainforest. Our guide was entertaining us the whole time with stories and information of his homeland. We made a few stops extra to make the best of our trip. He kept us safe on the winding road. I would definitely recommend the trip!

    I loved the black sand beach and surrounding lava cliffs areas. The guide/driver was concerned about our safety and our comfort as we traveled around the numerous curves. Also both driver and owner were very helpful when one of our party lost her hearing aids. Great service with our pickup special accommodations! Super rating!

    This review has nothing to do with Viator or the many team members I spoke to from our tour company before the tour, they were great, very kind and helpful. To start, our pick up was an hour late, no big deal but I would have enjoyed that hour of sleep instead of waiting on a bench since they knew they would be late. Island time…great just let me know. We were the last pick up and therefore in the very back of the van. All good there too, except I can confidently say the driver had never ridden in the back. The negative experience started when we got to start of the curvy road to Hana. Our driver being young & cocky thought it would be great to start off the tour going as fast as he could and instructed us to lean with the van so we could make it up the first sharp turn. The van skidded out unnecessary and those of us in the back got tossed with each curve at high speeds. If we had to stop to let others pass, he would floor it to catch up. He assured us he was very experienced & we were in good hands. We never once felt ‘safe’ or that he was experienced. I happened to speak to the passenger in the front who told me she had her eyes closed most of the time. Imagine paying for an excursion only to close your eyes most of the time! What he did know was several other locals along the road & made it his mission to keep up with them. The entire ride was white knuckled, swerving, aggressive driving & honking while talking crap on whatever tourist was in front or next to us, to the next spot he had made ‘special’ arrangements with his ‘sisters’ to get us in since we started an hour late. I think I have a good idea of Hawaiian culture and it’s inclusivity between locals but what we experienced was more about this guy seeing his buddies, showing off his fast driving and ‘knowing’ people. He also told us about the one waterfall stop and how it was called the ‘rolling pigs’ waterfall…turns out us tourists are the ‘rolling pigs’ as it’s easy to slip and fall on the rocks getting to the waterfall. Needless to say, this was not a ‘tour’ but more of a ‘tear thru Hana’, death defying, Shaka bra to your guides friends & hear stories of ‘divorce road’, rolling pigs and how corporate water companies are stealing all the water resources ride. In my opinion, a guide that can share local Hawaiian history, maybe some botanical information about the plants and flowers that most of us have never seen and maybe a speed in the van that would allow for the passengers to actually see what we’re passing would have been better. The worst part was that every single window in the van was filthy dirty inside and out. We were instructed to pull our cameras out at many points along the road and as you can see from my pics, the majority are just water & dirt on the tour can windows.

    We had Kaili as our tour guide. Very helpful with what to expect from trip ..picked us up at our condo. Kaili was so kind and informative and we learned so much of Hawaiian culture. His family has been there for generations and he started driving those roads at 12 so you cannot be in better hands. Even met some of his family along the trip. He is an amazing driver very chill and skilled. Those curves are no joke! The scenes and views and waterfall were spectacular. Enjoyed our time at the waterfall, the black beach and the turtle beach. Just wish we had more time at each stop but there is a time limit and it is a long day already so understand the time restraints. If you book this trip try to get him as your tour guide and you will have a wonderful tour of Hana. Mahalo L, S and C
