Diese Tour sollte das Highlight meines Aufenthaltes auf Maui werden. Leider habe ich am Vorabend um 21:45 Uhr eine E-Mail bekommen, dass die Tour ausfällt. Das war so spät, dass ich keine Alternative mehr organisieren konnte.

This tour was fantastic! Jason provided me with so much history about this beautiful island! I would have never known to stop at some of these spots and would have been too frightened to drive these twisty narrow roads on my own. Jason did the driving while I was able to see the gorgeous views and learn so much about Maui! I am thrilled I took this tour!! Thank you Jason!

This is a long road trip but it is totally worth it in our opinion as my family and I got to see a lot of things that we mostly would not have been able to see without this bus tour. The road to Hana is narrow, so tour eliminates the stress of us driving there ourselves. The tour guy, Rich, is very friendly and knowledgeable. We learned a lot of history from him.

Jason made this trip the best experience that it possibly could have been for our family. Having a lifelong resident of Maui as our tour guide was priceless. He was patient with our four young kids and went out of his way to take the best care of everyone. There is simply no better way to enjoy the road to Hana than this!

Relax, admire the scenery and let a local do the driving

Rich our guide was a very experienced driver and drove slowly and safely. He pointed out the main sights and stopped when possible for photos and imparted his local knowledge. The rainforest scenery along the coast is beautiful. The minivan was comfy and they take a max of 10 guests so this was a more relaxing experience than trying to drive it yourself. I had read reports beforehand about travel sickness but everyone was fine and I didn't feel unsafe. We didn't do the back road to Hana - but drove from Kahului south and then did the reverse on the return. From what we were told parts of the back road can be bumpy - it was closed for repair when we were there. The guide was flexible and fitted in sights depending on how busy they were. We stopped at Ke'anae Peninsula for 20mins for views of the coast with a chance to purchase Aunty Sandys banana bread . then we had just over an hour at the black sand beach at Honokalani. This is a beautiful spot. The beach isn't big and waves rough but there are great views and a lava tube to the ocean. We had lunch here - the sandwiches provided were good and the guide had plenty of water. You might want to bring other snacks. We drove round Hana and had some refreshment stops including Hana Farms which has a gift shop. On the way back we had half an hour at pua'a ka'a waterfalls where it was possible to swim. We also stopped for photos at the rainbow eucalyptus and then at Ho'okipa beach to see the sea turtles. Although there are restrooms at each stop I would advise taking tissues and antibac as they weren't in the best state. For those who are less mobile there are steps up to waterfalls and down to the black sand beach. Be prepared to be out in the sun, with swimwear and a towel if you want to go in the water (people did say the water was quite cool). Just to note I had to call Paramount tours the day before for pick up times (the driver was early) and sandwich choices.

Jason did a great job as guide! One suggestion if you are stopping at Safeway prior to departure maybe the van could have a Safeway card so tourists could use the card fir discounts.

Fun and educational trip to Hana

Overall: Our tour guide Jason was a local and very knowledgeable. His driving was awesome and I felt extremely safe. He had a great personality and we all learned a lot from him about Maui. Tour stops: Our first stop was at a Safeway to pick up snacks and use the restrooms which was very helpful. There were also additional stops throughout that the tour to use the restroom. The tour also stopped at a delicious banana bread stand. I mean it was very delicious. For lunch we stopped at a beautiful black sand beach that had a cool lava tube that my family explored. We also drove around Hana for a bit and the guide told us the history and cool facts. On the way back we stopped at a waterfall to swim. This was a cool highlight of the trip. Lunch: The lunch options were sandwiches and chips which is fine, but If you need more than that I suggest buying snacks at the start of the trip. Also our sandwich order was mixed up and my daughter got a sandwich she couldn’t eat due to her food sensitivities. Overall we disappointing by the lunch options given the cost of the trip.

The trip that never happened

We have no memories of this trip, because it never happened. We waited for over 2 hours for them to show up. They never came, never called , no communication whatsoever! I wouldn’t recommend using this vendor Paramount tours. Viator did refund our money for the trip. It was disappointing because this was a tour we really wanted to do. Unfortunately we weren’t able to book with someone else that day, because the trips start early and didn’t have time for another day. Viator should remove them from their service. Poor business ethics!!
