Unsere vierköpfige Gruppe hatte einen wundervollen Tag mit Hugo, der Braga und Guemares besuchte. Er war nicht nur äußerst sachkundig über die Themen des Tages, er verfügte auch über eine Fülle von Kenntnissen über Portugal im Allgemeinen, Regionen, Geschichte, aktuelle Umweltbedrohungen usw. Beide Städte waren wunderschön und historisch, wir hatten in jeder Zeit Zeit, uns das anzusehen Highlights und einfach ein bisschen wandern. Die Auswahl beim Mittagessen war ausgezeichnet, der Besitzer genoss es, mehr zu servieren, als man essen konnte. Ich kann diese Tour sowie die anderen Angebote von Portugal Excellence nur wärmstens empfehlen. Wir hatten auch eine wundervolle Duoro Valley-Reise mit ihnen.

Wir hatten eine tolle Zeit und wir machen die Touren nie, aber ich empfehle diese. Thiago war großartig! ! Er war lustig und spricht 4 Sprachen! Unsere anderen Freunde, Barbara und Iggy, Jason und Kristina waren auch alle großartig! Wir hatten tolles Wetter und konnten Zeit damit verbringen, diese Seiten zu genießen. Wir bekamen ein tolles Mittagessen mit grünem Wein und tollem Fisch! Erstaunlicher Tagesausflug mit Besuch der beiden wunderschönen Städte Braga und Guimaraes. Unser Führer Tiago war top! Er war sehr freundlich und erzählte uns so viel über Bom Jesus, die Kathedrale und die Altstadt von Braga, wo wir ein sehr gutes Mittagessen hatten. Am Nachmittag besuchten wir den sehr schönen Palacio Ducale und die Altstadt von Guimaraes. Ich kann diese Reise und diesen Reiseführer jedem empfehlen!

Schöner Tag. Wir brauchten mehr Zeit, um alles zu sehen, aber wir haben einen Tag lang viel abgedeckt. Van Fahrt war bequem. Unser Führer war freundlich und kompetent. Im Gegensatz zu vielen kommerziellen Touren an beliebten Orten wie Italien werden die meisten Touren in Portugal von Einheimischen durchgeführt. Wir hatten ein tolles Mittagessen in einem lokalen Ort, nettes Personal. Wegen der drohenden Pandemie im März hatten wir eine private Tour, sodass wir besonders darauf achten mussten, was wir sehen und wissen wollten. Viel Spaß bei dieser Tour!

Ricardo was very personable and knowledgeable. We were able to fully appreciate each of the stops we made, even with the rain. We traveled with our 4-year-old and appreciated the availability of a car seat, as well as timely communication prior to the trip about our meeting spot, which was easy to get to. Overall, we would recommend this trip to anyone traveling with their family, or solo.

Braga and Guimaraes with lunch from Porto.

Our good looking tour guide/driver Ricardo was already waiting for us minutes before our pickup time. Our drive to Braga was very pleasant in a comfortable Benz van. The very knowledgeable Ricardo, while driving gave a lot of of information and facts about the places we passed by. Our first stop was at the base of Bom Jesus. Took several photos, soaked in the view, before starting to use the beautiful baroque staircase going up to the church. It was an easy ascent. We took several more photos and videos as we were going up. Meanwhile, Ricardo already drove up to the top, our meeting point. Reaching the top, the sun was already up. The views were even better from the top overlooking the city of Braga. But the staircase view from the base is not to be missed. A classic view you see in all ads about Braga. After taking so many videos and photos we headed to Guimaraes to have lunch in one restaurant that served good, authentic Portuguese cuisine. Ricardo gave us the option to select from the main menu. The food was good especially the lamb. Well seasoned and juicy. From there we went to the Castle of Guimaraes. Just like many castles in Europe, only the walls and towers are left. All others are left to your imagination. From there we walked to the oldest church in Portugal. Oldest means really, really old. But the inside are well maintained and baroque gold leaf are still shiny. So beautiful. Then we were ushered to see more locked rooms. A local church guide showed us around, unlocked some of the rooms where we saw the mummified body of a priest (I forgot which one). The body was well preserved, even the teeth, hair, nails, mouth. They say he’s a miracle. We were not looking at a skeleton but a well preserved mummified body. I didn’t take photos (which is allowed). It really looked better than the mummies in Egypt. From there we went to another castle. It was. very interesting, the history and original pieces on display. Ricardo had given all the information about each one. Of course I just remembered a few (so hard to remember when you’d seen so many castles in Europe. Our last stop was at the old city of Guimaraes walking through their oldest street. It was square where many locals gather and eat good food and at the center of it was an olive tree- another hundred years old tree. Drove back, dozed off until we arrived. It was really an enjoyable trip. Would highly recommend. I’m rating it 5 stars.
