Thank you for your honest review and for sharing your thoughts on our South Coast: Fire and Ice tour and are happy to hear that you thought so highly of your guide, Einar. He really is a wonderful guide to share these experiences with.
We are of course devastated that you considered this tour only 3 stars and you didn't think it was worth the money, as we have worked very hard in creating a wonderful scenic trip designed for most abilities. Please do reach out to us by email at firstname.lastname@example.org (co-owner) if you would like to discuss your thoughts in more detail. We are always looking to learn and improve from every tour we run.
Our small groups (max 12, with only 9 on your tour), expert guides, spacious Mercedes Benz vehicles and well thought out itineraries with the extra inclusion of the Icelandic Lava Show, are where we believe our value comes. And of course the beautiful sights we visit along the way.
As you mentioned, at this time of year it can be a little tricky due to the turbulent weather and issues with freezing to get quite as close as we may do in summer. Though the added benefit of winter travel is the snowy and icy landscapes.
The Seljalandsfoss waterfall (the one you can walk behind in summer) is mostly closed behind the waterfall in winter (as noted on the itinerary) due to safety concerns regarding slipping on ice and the icicles on the cliff side that are prone to falling. We think it is still wonderful to see it in winter without walking behind.
How close we can get to the glacier just depends on the conditions on the day, though the viewpoint we go to always provides incredible picture opportunities.
Safety will always be our priority when running these types of trips but we are sorry that you felt not getting close enough to these two sights on this occasion affected your enjoyment for the day. Please do reach out to us directly and we can chat about how to improve and rectify the situation. We want everyone to leave our tours fully satisfied with the tour and its value.
