Most disappointing experience

The whole experience was rather disappointing. The tour guide didn’t know what he was doing. He was used to groups of 40 and had to combine 2 groups which means we were nearly 80 people. While every other tour guide had a microphone and a nice costume to fit the vibe our tour guide had neither. Which means we couldn’t even hear him. The times we did hear him he was not telling us any ghost stories. He lacked basic information to the places he took us and couldn’t answer any questions regarding the places. Many of the people left after a few minutes and by the end of the tour there were maybe 20 people left. He took us to places that were not supposed to be on the tour because he said he likes them (but again could not tell us any real ghost stories). The only thing he kept telling us that people saw ghosts there in form of blue orbs and that he has them on his phone but didn’t show to us. Very disappointing experience and would not recommend at all.

We are very sorry to hear about your less than ideal experience. The guide did not take proper direction and made the decision to take far more guests than allotted. This guide is no longer with the company.

SKIP! They over booked. Split us into two groups. Our guide knew nothing-told us to google basically everything. It was nothing about ghosts etc. guy didn’t even have a mic so couldn’t hear anything over other tour guides loud mics. Waste of money.

Poorly run tour

Tour group ended up being split into two groups but only one guide had a headset/mic. We ended up being forced to go with the guide who did not have one. Could not hear 90% of what was said. When we could hear the guide, he had extremely limited knowledge of the ghost stories or history of the buildings we saw. Very poorly run. Would not recommend.

We have always enjoyed these walking tours immensely, but unfortunately this one was the worst one we have ever experienced. The guide, I did not get his name because I could not hear it, did not use a microphone and had a quiet voice (he said he forgot his microphone and that his voice was shredded), so he was impossible to hear. What we did hear had was the same story repeated multiple times and him bragging that he was a horror movie director. After 30 minutes we ditched the tour. Please tell your guides that they must use a microphone since the area of the tour is so loud and busy. A complete disaster! Kent and Mercy LeHoullier, Florida

Scary customer service

If I could give less than one star, I would. My friends and I had a horrific experience with this company. We showed up to our tour a few minutes before it started. Salem in October is insanely crowded and all ghost tours meet in the same spot. There was no signage or anything to help clear up the confusion. My friends and I went around and asked every tour guide there where our tour might be. We walked around the perimeter of the meeting point twice. Eventually, it got to the point that the tour obviously would have left. I tried contacting the tour operator and viator and did not receive anything in time. I politely requested a refund as this was clearly not on us, but on the poor organization of tours throughout Salem. We were denied a refund and basically told that it was our fault that we could not find the tour, even though we had made a large effort to do so. I’d highly recommend not doing business with this company. There are many other tours in Salem, I’d recommend looking in to other options.

Thank you for your feedback. We do ask all guests to arrive a minimum of 15 minutes before tour time as we do check in and begin the tour exactly on time. We also always send detailed meeting location directions for every tour. It is extremely busy with many many tours in Salem this time of year indeed. Our team offered you compensatory tickets that can be used on nay of our tours across the country and never expire.

It was hard to hear the tour guide. It also wasn't really spooky. He told us to look into a bunch of third-floor windows and see if we could see something he saw a few weeks ago. At one point, he saw a red light and literally said, "this is probably an exit sign, but it looks spooky!". He was a really nice guy, but the tour was definitely not worth the money I paid.

Not A Bore

Our tour was canceled 3 hours before, and customer service was absolutely terrible and non-apologetic. As a tourist attraction, we can’t exactly try again next weekend. However, our tour guide, Lady Bore, who was clearly and understandably flustered by all the disgruntled people saved the night and figured it out for everyone. She was a great tour guide- informative and entertaining- and the tour itself was great.

Could not find the tour the directions said 32 Darby st to many tours there some peoples tours told them a specific meeting place this did not. Paid for nothing.

Our tour guide Zack was very good. We liked his stores and the history he gave us on the tour. I liked finding out which places our haunted and the history on the different experiences that have happened at the places and why the place is haunted.

Bad guide

I was really looking forward to this tour, but after 30 minutes my friend and I walked away disappointed. The tour guide started out giving good information on the history the buildings then rambled on with frivolous information that had little to do with the tour and more on personal opinion which made it painful to continue with the tour. I'm sure that it would have been better with a different guide.
