Super Guide, der sich Zeit genommen hat, alles wichtige zu erklären, anstatt, wie viele andere einfach nur schnell durch die Höhle zu rennen… Oberste Priorität hatte immer die Sicherheit.

Unser Reiseleiter Eric war unglaublich. Wir waren die ersten in der Höhle und konnten das kristallklare Wasser erleben. Eric hat alles so gut erklärt und wir hatten viel Spaß mit ihm. Das Mittagessen danach war auch super gut. Tolle Tour würde ich auf jeden Fall empfehlen!

Hue war sehr gut informiert über die Geschichte der Höhle. Er gab einen umfassenden Hintergrund über die Mayas, so dass wirklich alles zum Leben erweckt und sinnvoll wurde. Die Höhle selbst war eine erstaunliche Erfahrung, es fühlte sich wie etwas von Indiana Jones an.

A friend and I booked the ATM cave tour and picnic with Viator (run by MayaWalks, located in downtown San Ignacio). It was truly a phenomenal tour. The tour of the save itself, with the remains of Mayan pottery and later sacrifices (approached sensitively and with historical context), was by itself an amazing and thought-provoking experience, as was the atmosphere of moving through the cave itself. What made this tour exceptional however was the MayaWalks staff, and in particular our guide Hugh. Hugh took an immense amount of time to bring the past to life, to discuss the history of Mayan civilisation and the cave's place it in. You can see that he loves his job and has places huge value on imparting an understanding of the Mayans' society, its fears and hopes, and also of the later archeological efforts to document the cave and interpret the artefacts left behind. He was also safety conscious and welcoming of the group members' questions. I have no doubt that what actually made this tour so memorable was having Hugh as our guide (though as a baseline, the cave is pretty memorable in and of itself). We exited and came back to a lovely cooked meal by the MayaWalks crew and were brought back to San Ignacio safe and sound. If you are looking to do the ATM tour, book this one and ask for Hugh. And I'd also advise checking if MayaWalks is the provider of other Viator tours (you can usually tell from the address of the office listed on the tour package).

JC was such an amazing guide! I appreciated his knowledge and how educated his viewpoints are on everything we talked about as a group and personally!!!! The experience was once in a lifetime. I felt safe and I appreciated JC’s extreme regard for the safety of everyone in this group, also making sure to make others less afraid in this new type of adventurous situation. Easy to find the office in town and the shuttle was super clean!!! Everyone that accompanied us was also very friendly and helpful! Thank you for an amazing adventure!!!

It was a very nice tour. The hike through the jungle (and river) is nice and not hard at all. Spelunking and swimming into the cave is a great experience, the Mayan stories really came to life because of the great way Eric guided us. As every tour in Belize seems quite expensive, so is this one. But without a doubt, it is a must-do tour for this area. Mayan Walk Tours and especially guide Eric do an excellent (and safe!) job.

Hands down the best tour I’ve ever been on! Super unique experience exploring a wet cave. My husband and I had the absolute time of our lives squeezing through crevices, swimming in the pools, and spelunking up and down the large chambers. Our guide Hugh was incredible! I learned so much. I could tell by his enthusiasm that he really loves this stuff, so that made it much more special. I like that you don’t need much for the tour itself. I came with water-friendly sandals, a bikini, and board shorts. They give you your life-jacket and helmet. I was very comfortable the whole time. They do suggest for you to bring socks for the main part of the cave, however, but my husband and I went barefoot and it was sufficient. We’d definitely do it again! Thanks MayaWalk for the core memory!

This was such a cool and memorable experience and I would recommend it as a can't miss tour for anyone staying near San Ignacio. Be advised that this is a moderately strenuous trek that involves swimming, climbing slippery boulders, and squeezing through narrow spaces. However, totally worth it! We learned so much from our excellent guide Juan Carlos and would take another tour with him anytime 🙂

Man, what an adventurous excursion! My tour guide was Jaun Carlos, he is the BEST! JC is incredibly knowledgeable, engaging, and has the sweetest teddy bear vibe :) I came on a solo trip and I didn’t feel awkward at all. They provide life vests for folks who aren’t comfy with deep water such as myself. Bring closed toe shoes for the climbing portion! Rich history. Thanks Maya Walk Tours!

Seeing the cave formations and the site where humans were sacrificed was incredible. The tour was fantastic and the rum punch and food at the end was great! Be prepared to get wet but it is worth it.

Our tour guide, Hugh, was very passionate and extremely knowledgeable about the cave and Mayan history and make the journey engaging and entertaining. This tour makes you feel like indiana jones. Juan Carlos & Hue were great & very informed guides. I had a blast & it was definitely worth every dollar. You’ll be in water for most of the tour & can run out of energy quick so make sure to eat alot first & be prepared.

Wow! Our Guide, Hugh was amazing! He truly cared about every member of the tour. He is passionate about the ancient people's culture, mythology, archeology, geology and history. He made us feel at ease as we navigated the cave and some of the difficult terrain in and out of the water. We were impressed with his knowledge and skill. Also the driver was very professional and helped set up the food. And the cook who provided the meal at the end was awesome. Her food was so yummy. Very good stewed chicken. Loved the entire experience. This is the most unique cave experience you will ever have.

Get ready to get wet! Within moments of parking the van, you are in chest deep water crossing a river as you make the easy hike toward the cave entrance. The cave is beautiful, and only slightly challenging in parts, but I saw young children, and elderly making their way through the challenges so it's definitely doable. Slightly claustrophobic at times, but within moments the cave system usually opened back up. Our guide was patient and cautious and made sure everyone was comfortable with the pace. I recommend hiking boots, more so within the cave, than hiking to the cave, but folks in my group had flip flops and were fine.

We had a great time on the ATM cave tour. It was a fun adventure for sure! It wasn’t too physically demanding but was very exciting to swim, climb and maneuver our way through the caves. Our guide shared information about mayan history as we came across different remnants and remains. We enjoyed the traditional Belizean lunch before heading back to town.
