Authentic Greek family recipes

Small group size allowed everyone to participate. The chef was very knowledgeable and shared the recipes at the end of class. And all of the dishes we prepared were delicious!

The food is good but the chef had a strict approach which rubbed us off the wrong way. The description said vegan option available but we only ended up making appetizers.

The food was very good. If you want a boot camp cooking experience then this is the class for you. Chef Cristos did not like questions and I had a few like what type of meat, should we throw out the oil or can it be reused and the one that he really didn’t like “why do you not mix the pasta with the sauce instead of mixing individually in each serving dish?” His response was “This is my recipe, you can do it your way at home but it won’t be the same.” When I told him that the food was good while we were eating he got offended and said, “it’s not good, it’s excellent and famous recipe!” He excluded the only male (my husband) in the group from cooking upfront with him. Again, the food was very good but he didn’t make the class fun, at least not for me. He was not engaging and didn’t ask if the group had any questions. If you’re content to sit, listen and speak only when spoken to then this is your class.

Just don’t bother. Food was average at best. You cook in a tiny, crowded, hot, uncomfortable room with a hot plate and little oven. You hardly cook - you chop some veggies and watch others take turns doing a bit of sautéing. And the chef is overworked - 7 days a week, 2 classes a day. No wonder he’s cranky! Just find a great restaurant and enjoy yourself that way instead.

We had an amazing time Chef Christos was the bomb! Very personable and pleasant. Learned a lot and there was definitely enough hands on for me. I recommend 10/10. This is definitely a meal we are going to make here at home. It was delicious and everything was fresh. Something we aren’t used to here in the US. Thank you Chef Christos to you and your assistance and the Raki restaurant!

My family and I have never done anything like this cooking experience, but it will without a doubt be something we look for in any country we visit going forward! We LOVED this cooking class with Christos! We enjoyed the preparation process and learning about the history and culture surrounding the meals. We loved the food so much it has since been a tradition to cook Moussaka and tzatziki for our family Christmas and Easter (we visited Oct 2022). We love reminiscing and it's something we can thank Christos for!

Greek Cooking Class in Megalachori

The chef was very knowledgeable and taught us many tips, skills and techniques to make our delicious meal. However, he was a bit surly, sour and gruff. I believe there was a mixup, as we were originally a party of 5, but had to change to a party of 4. I don't think Viator updated the chef, as he was expecting 9 in the class and seemed kind of angry that there were only 4. It took him awhile to warm up to us. We did make a delicious meal, though. I thought there would be more wine to drink, like during the class and after but we only got 1 little glass each with our meal. The chef joined us as we were eating but ignored us. He then asked us to write a good review and sat until we gave him a tip. That part was unsettling.
Fine food but wanted a more hands on experience

I would have preferred more hands on cooking and less observing the chef. I wanted a first hand experience cooking the dish. The food was fine but the wine was not very good or plentiful and the preparation table was cramped.

Chef Christos at Raki restaurant was fantastic. We had a great time, made some great food and have some new friends. The traditional village surrounding the restaurant was also a highlight. Give yourself some time to walk around and check it out. Highest recommendation.

Had a blast. Chef was fantastic, the food was amazing and he kept it rolling the entire time. He had a great sense of humor could answer all questions, sat down with us and enjoyed the company. A wonderful time was had by all. Would HIGHLY recommend doing this cooking class!

We loved this experience! Having had cooking classes in Athens and Chania, our evening with Chef Kristos was our favorite of the three. Kristos made the cooking class fun, with a playful demeanor that kept us laughing, and an easy pace that allowed us to ask questions. The joy he takes in introducing his students to traditional Greek cuisine was clear, and he involved us in every step of the process--except peeling and cutting the onions (thank you, Kristos). We also enjoyed the location. Megalochori is a lovely, quiet little village, and Raki, the restaurant where we had the class and where Kristos is chef, offered a beautiful setting. The staff were friendly and helpful. Getting to Megalochori was easy on the local bus, which stopped on the main road outside a cafe/shop, leaving us to walk down into the village. And how about the food? In a word--amazing. While Chef Kristos let us sample our work along the way, sitting down on the patio with our meal was magical. Each of the items we prepared with Kristos was incredible, and we had the opportunity to sit not just with the other students, but also with Kristos. That was special. He is a wonderful person with a fascinating story. He answered all kinds of questions and took pictures with us seated around the table with our meal. While the food was incredible, the highlight of the evening was meeting Kristos. We recommend this cooking class highly. You'll learn recipes, tips, and techniques while having a marvelous time in a picturesque setting.

There were 10 people in the class and it was entertaining and informative. We prepared some of the meal, then headed to a table to eat our bounty and drink wine. It was a great time! We received pictures and the recipes to make an authentic Greek meal. I recommend it!

Although i’m not a great cook, this was so much fun! We made amazing, authentic, greek food and got to eat it all at the end. Everyone got to do things throughout the lesson, even younger people. The chef was so much fun and had a great personality. We also got the recipe at the end! I would definitely recommend this!!

Adventually the food we made was deleciouse. But the chef was unpleasent at all. He wasn't patient enough, didn't let us preper the food that much...and the dishes we made, didn't teach me somthing I didn't know allready. Tha place is small and stuffed. The A.C. not on all the time and it made us smell like greek cuisin. Unfurtionatly, I won't reccomend it to anyone.

Wonderful experience and exactly what you're looking for in a cooking class. Really enjoyed the smaller group size and chef Christos was a lot of fun. The end result was a fresh, delicious Greek meal that we were able to enjoy outside paired with some excellent Santorini wine. Definite recommend if you're into cooking and eating local!
