Ich fand die Tour sehr interessant, war aber etwas enttäuscht, dass wir nicht sehen konnten, wie das Essen tatsächlich gekocht wurde, wie auf Ihrer Website bei der Buchung angegeben.

As part of the guided tour you take at the living Maori village, the guides do show you the Hangi and steam box where the food that you get to enjoy for lunch as part of the tour. You also see the boiling pool where the corn is cooked. So i am not sure why you think that you missed anything. We do exactly what the tour description says. Regards Ian

Ein einzigartiges kulturelles Erlebnis

Wunderbare Erfahrung eines lebenden geothermischen Dorfes der Maori. Erstaunlich - nicht verpassen. Die einzige Enttäuschung war, dass wir uns wünschten, wir wären einige Zeit in Rotorua geblieben.

Thanks for the feedback, the tours are timed to run for around 6.5 hours and in that time we show you as much as we can without making the tour seem too rushed. We do have longer tours [at more cost] that let you see and do more. Maybe one of these would have been a better option. We also need to mindful of the ships departure times, we have never missed a ship in 19 years. Regards Ian

Meine Bewertung gilt nur für das Maori The Living Village, es war ausgezeichnet. Liebte die Tänze und Musik. Unser Führer im Dorf war unglaublich, so viel persönliches Wissen über die Kultur und Umgebung. Die Vorbeifahrt von Rotorua und den Redwoods war enttäuschend, es gab überhaupt keine Zwischenstopps, um die Stadt zu erleben. Beschreibung der Tour etwas irreführend.

If you can contact us and tell us on which day you took the tour we can look into the issues you mention. We are constrained by time but we do have stops along the way [if there is time] at a honey shop with a bee hive and display, a kiwifruit orchard, the Redwoods Forest and we also travel through the city of Rotorua. Unser Van-Fahrer hat dafür gesorgt, dass wir unseren eigenen Führer haben. Es war wundervoll. Anstatt in einer Gruppe von mehr als 40 Touristen zu sein, waren wir in unserer eigenen kleinen Gruppe.

Eine wirklich tolle Highlights Tour durch Rotorua / Tauranga!

Unsere Tour war in einem Van mit nur 10 Personen, daher fühlte es sich sehr persönlich und auf unsere Bedürfnisse und Wünsche zugeschnitten an. Gary war sehr informativ über die Sehenswürdigkeiten und lustigen Fakten über die Landschaft, die wir zwischen Tauranga und Rotorua durchquerten, wie zum Beispiel über einige Terrassen und ein Schiffswrack in Tauranga. Wir haben auch viele Fragen zu Neuseeland im Allgemeinen gestellt und er konnte so viele Informationen liefern. Unterwegs lernen Sie auch einige Ihrer gleichgesinnten Kreuzfahrtfreunde kennen. Es war so viel billiger, aber besser als die Ausflüge des Kreuzfahrtschiffes. Ich danke dir sehr!

We enjoyed the Maori village tour...they had22 pax so the group was larger then the promises 18...we wasted over an hour waiting as they didn't tell us it was leaving at 1030 vs 9. Lunch was disappointing. Guide was great and very knowledgeable.

Thank you for your review and we are pleased you enjoyed the tour. We have to use a range of our vehicles ranging in size from 12 to 22 people or we would have to not accept your bookings. As you booked through Viator when we accepted your booking we told you then that the tour started at 10.30am, rather than the standard time of 9am. Had we started at 9am then many clients would have missed the tour as the ship only tied up at 8am. If you look into your account messages you will see the message we gave you. If you had booked directly with us at Cruise Tours Tauranga then the voucher we would have sent you would show you the tour start time. Best to check your facts before commenting on the review board. We have to change the start and end times of all tours often as the ships arrival in Tauranga is adjusted to suit the tides. Regards Ian

Our guide was Māori and so knowledgeable of the village of Rotorua. She provided an excellent tour. My favorite part was the concert featuring songs, dance, and a demonstration of the Haka. The Hangi lunch was in no way traditional but was fairly tasty food. You’ll really enjoy this tour.

Thanks for the feedback, the hangi lunch offer this year is a Hangi Pie, so the food is all cooked in the traditional way in the Hangi underground geothermally heated cooking pits. Its just that this year we offer the pie option as the full meal was often way to much food judging by the feedback. So now you have the traditional hangi pie, cooked corn on the cob and a light salad.

Very disappointing

I was advised to be at pick up point at 10:45 for an 11 a.m. departure. I arrived at 10:25 to be told my mini bus had aready left. This was really upsetting, particularly as I had sent a couple of emails to the operator to check the departure time: the voucher said 9.00 a.m. departure when the cruise ship arrived in port at 9.00!! I was reassured it would be at 11.00. Because another passenger was sick, I was able to be squeezed on to a second mini bus. The driver/guide left us waiting once at the destination whilst she went to check the lunch arrangements. After about 20 minutes wait, we were taken to a miserable back room and left alone with a small side plate of what was supposedly a Hangi lunch. We had water only to drink. Nobody stayed with us, nobody explained the Hangi process, nobody was there to serve us. It was uncomfortable. Once we had eaten a very small portion of chicken, stuffing and a few carrots, we were rushed out of the room so that the table could be cleared. Our guide then appeared and said she would get the details of our village guide, if we could just wait. I enquired why our lunch had been served on a small side plate and was told it was just a 'taster' rather than full meal and that this was reflected in the price of the ticket. Excuse me, but I paid over £100 sterling and so far had had a ride on a mini bus!! The tour details had stated 'Hangi Lunch' so I feel this was grossly mis-represented. After our tour around the village - and again, we were kept waiting for over 20 minutes for our maori guide - we were rushed to the mini bus. The driver/tour guide was clearly in a hurry to leave and was reluctant to allow us to shop for souvenirs to support the community or to use the toilets (incidentally the toilet facilities were dreadful and need totally modernising and extending). Her manner was brusque and she scolded me for taking 5 minutes to go the the toilet. The tour was 6.5 hours duration in the details. We were returned to port 45 minutes before schedule. I had so looked forward to this part of my tour of New Zealand and I was dreadfully disappointed and felt rather cheated. I would NOT recommend this tour or this company.

Both the tour guide and the guide at the Maori village were excellent! The Maori guide's hands danced as she talked! Her information on the Maori lifestyle and their village was interesting and clear. Our van broke down soon after leaving Tauranga. The guide got us to a small village and bought us coffee and pastries. A new van arrived soon, and the tour continued as planned. The guide stayed out later than scheduled to be sure we got in everything we expected on the trip, and more. A highlight of our time in New Zealand!

Thanks for the very positive review, despite the issue of the minibus breaking down. The issue turned out to be a simple fix as the intercooler pipe on the turbo came off. I was the guy who brought the coach out to you ASAP so you could continue on tour. We always have a plan B for such unusual and luckily for us very rare issues. Our vehicle are all late model vans so we dont get this thing happening very often.

This tour would of easily earnt 5 stars but I have to take one of for the bus driver and tour operator..Graham was constantly speeding 89 in a 55 zone etc..safety of your customers should come first. Another half a point lost due to re using the shore tour neck tags..great way to spread covid..otherwise tour was awesome
